
Lecture Yolande de Lalaing

Lecture, in Dutch, by Carla van den Berg on the eventful life of Yolande de Lalaing (c. 1422-1497). During her youth Yolande spent time at the Burgundian court of Isabella of Portugal and moved, when her father became stadtholder of Holland and Zeeland to the Binnenhof in The Hague. She married Reinoud II, the 9th Lord of Brederode, and had a family chronicle written. Among other things, she was in possession of a beautiful book of hours. After the death of her husband, she was exiled from Batestein Castle, the residence of the Brederodes at the time, and went to live in the half rebuilt family castle in Santpoort. She became the last lady of Brederode Castle.
The lecture is held outside, in rain under the awning, and is from 7.30 pm to approx. 9.30 pm with a break. The door is open from 7 pm
