Opening hours

Brederode Castle is closed to visitors until the end of February. The area around the castle is closed as well.

For guided tours on request, weddings, photo shoots, private activities and location rental for season 2023, please send an email via Contact. Applications via other media, like WhatsApp or Messenger, will be disregarded.

These prices include booking fees. Purchase tickets in advance via our ticketsystem.

Guided tours, Living History weekends, exhibitions, concerts and events may be subject to adjusted prices.

Free parking in the adjacent car park.

Dogs on a leash are welcome too.

PIN (Maestro) is possible. We do not accept credit cards, only for payment of the tickets through the online reservation system.

Unfortunately, the Museumjaarkaart is not valid for Brederode Castle.

Photography, Film & Drones

Photo/Film shoots and drones are only allowed after appointment. Respect the safety and privacy of our visitors, volunteers, who work there, even outside opening hours, and the manager who lives there. Appointments can be made by email, see contact. Applications via other media, like WhatsApp or Messenger, will be disregarded.


Brederode Castle is located on velserenderlaan 2, 2082 LA Santpoort-Zuid and is located next to National Park Zuid-Kennemerland with beautiful walking and cycling routes. This area was once owned by the mighty Lords of Brederode.

Public Transport
Nearby the Castle is train station Santpoort-Zuid. See, 35 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station. After a 10 minutes walk you are at Brederode Castle;

Neighbourhood bus 481, stop ‘Anna van Saksenlaan’ about a 2-minute walk (not on Sundays and public holidays). See

Unfortunately, the Castle itself is poorly accessible to walker/wheelchair users. The Tea Garden, with some help, is accessible to them.

Spend the night on an estate or in a castle

Do you want to combine your visit with an overnight stay on a historic estate or in a castle?

The estate is less than ten minutes by bike from Brederode Castle.

A more simple accommodation is possible in the medieval castle Assumburg in Heemskerk. This is about 20 minutes by car to the Ruin of Brederode and about an hour by public transport. Hostel Stayokay offers accommodation in Assumburg Castle which are also very suitable for families with children!
